Description
Elderberries is a group which works with volunteers and residents at Lenthall House, Market Harborough. The project involves people of all ages and gardening abilities and includes some people with dementia. Elderberries has been operating for 5 years during which time we have built 8 raised beds and planted a variety of fruit trees and soft fruit bushes. We have also constructed a shed and polythene tunnel. Everything we grow is organic that then goes into the Home or distributed amongst the team. We seek to work in harmony with nature.
Elderberries is what is described as a 'fresh expression of church', by making creative links between God, the land and community, with a team of volunteers who have had no connections with the traditional church.
We hold a number of workshops over the winter months including making chutney, willow weaving, apple grafting, etc. These usually involve a small charge.
We ask all our volunteers to undergo an induction training, complete an application form and DBS checks.
